The horrifying and brutal killing of George Floyd in the USA, has thrust the importance of diversity into the spotlight. The alarm bell is ringing and this has been our collective wake up call to reconfirm our commitment to tackling discrimination in education.
When we launched the Diversity Mark in 2014, our aim was to support Schools to build inclusive settings and improve outcomes for all students. We know equality does not happen by accident, and we must now work even harder to build an ethos of respect in every school in the UK.
Many of our Schools adopted the Diversity Mark before these events and continue to champion our shared values. We are proud to work with so many great schools and leaders who have always placed equality and diversity central to their School ethos. All Diversity Mark schools share our belief that equality, diversity and inclusive practice is central to education.
The Diversity Mark is recognised as the leading framework for Schools committed to inclusive practice but our framework, is more than just an improvement tool, it also brings together partner schools as members of an inclusion network that aims to promote better outcomes in education. The Diversity Mark logo on your website provides this visible commitment.
We must not be complacent, we must all be committed to real change. Our Diversity Mark brand will no longer work with any School that does not fully share our collective commitment to equality and inclusion and simply aims to tick boxes. We will support every School that genuinely wants to improve and shares our core values.
